Free Family Entertainment in Cunningham Street, Dalby
Over five thousand people flooded Cunningham Street for the Dalby Chamber of Commerce and Industry Street Party Carnivale. With the assistance of major sponsor Arrow Energy and other local sponsors the event was bigger and better than ever.
The Carnivale was a hit with locals who enjoyed the opportunity to have a family night out, just before Christmas. Jamaican sounds from Pantastic Steel Drum Band were a crowd favourite as were the “A-List Acrobats” who astounded onlookers on stage. Then later, the electrifying Chinese Dragon Performance from the Brisbane Valley weaved through the crowd moving energetically to the beats of the accompanying percussion band.
"The whole event really is a celebration for all our community. This year the committee worked hard to ensure local flavours and produce were showcased with the inclusion of community groups providing food and drinks as well as a range of locally made craft and giftware, " said Paul Hodda, President of the Dalby Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Excited children danced in front of the stage to local bands including EffeKt and Octopus. Other entertainment included street theatre by Dalby State High School students, solo performances by up and coming local performers Kate Doyle, Jack Hickey and Lorenda Hodges as well as the customary appearance by Santa Claus.
There was an assortment of children’s rides present, generously sponsored by Dalby Fishing and Camping World, Ergon Energy, Thomas Manufacturing and Warwick Credit Union.
Possibly the biggest attraction of the Carnivale were the Deal @ Dalby prize draws which totalled a record $25 000 this year.
