2022 AGM returns David Briese as President
Thursday 17 November 2022
David Briese was re-elected President unopposed after the Dalby Chamber of Commerce & Industry AGM held on Wednesday 16 November 2022.
Proposed as a challenging year ahead for the Chamber financially, commitment was made by Board members to return financial stability to Dalby Chamber. Delivered by Gavin Bradford (Vice-President) in David’s absence from the AGM, the President’s Report to the Annual General Meeting focused on direction of the Chamber Board in the lead up to Christmas and renewed plans for 2023. Once again thanking Cara Hawkey and Zoe Cotter for their service to the Dalby Chamber, David’s report talked about the opportunity to reflect, re-group and reconsider direction when staff resignations were announced.
In his report, David acknowledged the support and productive relationship with Western Downs Regional Council. David Briese’s report confirmed that Chamber’s successful Business After Hours events would continue through 2023 and that the Board would be seeking ways to build on the success of the recent Business Excellence Awards in 2023. The Board has established portfolios and assigned these to each of the Board members to keep a sharp focus on core areas of member services. These include membership/sponsorship, marketing and member communication, events and Junior Chamber, Finance and Voice to Government and general public. Objectives are linked to re-defined board mission, being: We are local, We love Dalby and We want local business to thrive.
In presenting the Treasurer’s Report and Audited Financial Statements to the meeting, Treasurer Nolan Keen spoke of the difficult financial year for the Dalby Chamber. Nolan told the meeting that while recent staff resignations had assisted financial change, the Board was continuing to do more to improve cashflow into 2023. Nolan closed the Treasurer’s Report noting that with new Board structure and reduced Administration hours, Dalby Chamber would continue to have sufficient funds to operate for current financial year and would return to a sustainable cash position, supporting overheads and Chamber initiatives into next financial year and beyond.
A number of questions were raised through the course of the AGM with regard to some initiatives of Dalby Chamber, including the Dalby Chamber website, business directory and new Constitution. In the absence of David Briese, Vice-President Gavin Bradford made a commitment to the meeting that a General Meeting of Dalby Chamber would be held in first quarter of 2023 to discuss these and other Chamber activity with members.
Returned as Vice-President for 2023, Gavin Bradford thanked Life Member, Peter McKinnon, for chairing the election of office bearers, returning 5 of the current 6 Board members to their positions.
The elected Dalby Chamber of Commerce & Industry Inc. Board for 2023 is:
President: David Briese, BMO
Vice-President: Gavin Bradford, Diesel Care
Secretary: Vicki Payne, Hub Cowork
Treasurer: Nolan Keen, Dalby General Steel
Board Members: Craig Tunley, Kookaburra Business Group
Gavin Bradford closed the AGM thanking all for their attendance and show of support for the Dalby Chamber. Any persons interested in taking up casual vacancies on the Dalby Chamber Board are encouraged to contact President, David Briese or the Dalby Chamber office.
