To help explain what is involved in nominating your business for the Dalby Chamber of Commerce & Industry Business Excellence Awards, here is everything you need to know. Explore our award categories which are designed to recognise business success in different areas of endeavour. Check your eligibility and find out what our judges are looking for.
Criteria
The 27th Business Excellence Awards have 13 Judges Choice categories, and each entrant is eligible to nominate in a maximum of two categories.
The PRESTIGE awards are judged from all category nominees and do not require a separate nomination.
Entrants agree to be profiled in the media and participate in post-award publicity.
Entries can only be submitted via the online submission form on this website.
Prestige Awards:
Winners in each of the 13 categories will automatically become eligible for selection as the :
- Overall Business of the Year
- Young Business Owner/Director of the Year
- Employee of the Year
- Sole Trader of the Year
- Mayor's Encouragement Award
- Innovation
- People's Choice
Applications are not required for these, please apply under each category.
Submissions
Entrants are eligible to nominate for a maximum of two awards from the 13 categories listed below. A team of eight independent judges will select finalists and winners in each category.
Agribusiness Excellence Award
This category recognises the backbone of our economy, this award honours businesses in the agricultural sector for their innovation, sustainability, and commitment to feeding the nation.
Automotive Excellence Award
This category recognises Celebrating businesses that drive our communities forward, this award shines a spotlight on excellence in the automotive industry, from dealerships to repair shops and beyond.
Beauty & Hair Excellence Award
This category recognises businesses that embrace creativity and style, this award acknowledges businesses dedicated to enhancing beauty, self-care, and confidence through exceptional beauty and hair services. Demonstrating excellence in customer care, retail sales, interpersonal skills, business acumen, marketing and innovation. Includes but not limited to hair salons, mobile hairdressers, barbershop, make up artist, nail technician, skincare, cosmetic dentistry.
Community & Non For Profit Excellence Award
This category recognises the businesses that commend the unsung heroes, this award recognizes non-profit organizations and businesses making a positive impact on our community, embodying the spirit of giving back.
Education, Employment & Training Excellence Award
This award recognises excellence in honouring organisations committed to shaping the future workforce, this award recognizes businesses dedicated to fostering learning, growth, and skill development, while providing employment opportunities that empower individuals to reach their full potential. This award celebrates the vital role these businesses play in driving both personal and professional development within our communities.
Energy & Civil Construction Excellence Award
This category recognises businesses Recognizing pioneers in infrastructure development and sustainable energy solutions, this award applauds businesses driving progress in the energy and civil construction sectors.
Health & Wellbeing Excellence Award
This category recognises businesses Focusing on businesses dedicated to holistic wellness, this award honours those committed to promoting health, fitness, and overall well-being within our communities.
Hospitality & Tourism Excellence Award
This category recognises Celebrating the heart of hospitality, this award acknowledges businesses that create exceptional experiences, welcoming travellers and locals alike to indulge in the best of hospitality and tourism.
It, Digital Media and Ecommerce Excellence Award
This category recognises businesses that Embracing the digital age, this award recognizes businesses at the forefront of technology, digital innovation, and e-commerce, shaping the future of connectivity and commerce.
Manufacturing & Trades Excellence Award
This category recognises businesses that saluting the creators and builders, this award pays tribute to businesses excelling in manufacturing and trades, driving innovation, craftsmanship, and quality in their respective fields.
Professional & Business Services Excellence Award
This category recognises businesses that provide diverse, specialised services. Includes but is not limited to legal, accounting and finance, financial planning, mortgage and insurance brokers, real estate, business broking, creative industries, information technology, veterinary, administrative and human resources.
Real Estate Excellence Award
This category recognises businesses that recognizing the foundation of property and investment, this award celebrates businesses in the real estate sector dedicated to excellence, integrity, and client satisfaction.
Retail Excellence Award
This category recognises businesses that showcasing the heartbeat of commerce, this award acknowledges retail businesses that redefine the shopping experience, offering quality products, exceptional service, and a touch of flair to our communities.
Judging
- Judging will be weighted accordingly
- 40% Written Application
- 10% Video or Photographs
- 50% Site Visit or Interview
- While we accept the use of AI technology to assist in preparing submissions, please note that applications with thoughtful, genuine responses are encouraged and will be valued highly.
- Entrants must agree to abide by the decision of the judging panel and the judges’ decision is final.
- The judges may request a business to move its application to the most appropriate category.
- The judges reserve the right not to make an award in a particular category based on the
standard of submissions. - Only entries received by the submission deadline will be eligible for judging.
- The Judging Panel will comprise of independent, prominent business and community representatives that have been selected to judge the entries. These judges will be bound by confidentiality and professional conduct agreements and all submissions will be kept strictly confidential.
- The awards are specifically targeted at how your business ran in the 24/25 Financial Year
- Finalists will receive an email advising of the outcome during September, winners will be announced on the awards night
Conditions of entry
- Entrants agree to be profiled in the media and participate in post-awards publicity.
- Entries must be submitted only on the online submission form with all questions answered per category
- Entries close on Saturday 30th August 2025
- Applicant’s business must have an ABN.
- Previous winners must demonstrate improvements implemented since winning a previous award. The submission must be for different / new achievements.
- All businesses operating in the Dalby region are eligible to nominate for the awards.
- Award sponsors are not eligible to nominate in their own sponsored category, however they can enter other categories
- Businesses can enter in more than one category if applicable
